VWork Wins Good Design Award

— 20 March 2020

Simon Pengelly’s VWork collection was recognised for its design excellence and innovation by the Good Design Award 2019. Founded in 1950 by Eero Saarinen and Charles and Ray Eames, the Good Design Award programme honours the most innovative and cutting edge industrial, product and graphic designs produced around the world. VWork was chosen to be part of this globally recognised portfolio of inspirational designs.

VWork is a modular, all timber desking system that carries forward the distinctive ‘v’ shaped joinery detail specific to the VTable, the result of our collaboration with Simon Pengelly some twenty years ago. Combining traditional joinery and renewable materials with an innovative, extendable workspace collection, VWork brings natural materials, a domestic aesthetic and beautifully crafted joinery to the modern office.

“Workplaces are evolving to offer a more relaxed and domestic atmosphere. They’re an extension of the home where individuals are enabled to work in the way they want.” says VWork’s designer, Simon Pengelly.

Flexibility is key, the complete collection encompasses a modular table system, hot desk, meeting and dining tables with matching benches as well as a standing desk. Power units, beautifully hidden under solid oak lids, and cable tidies crafted from saddle leather, keep cables effortlessly tucked away, and the collection’s variety means all kinds of working styles can be accommodated.

“The workplace environment is becoming far less formal with flexible working - and supplying furniture that allows for this is now essential.” continued Pengelly.

Manufactured using 100% renewable energy in our Somerset factory, the entire collection is available with FSC® certification. Finished in natural or black, low VOC, water-based lacquer, VWork can help maintain good indoor air quality and its sustainably sourced materials and biophilic design mean VWork is not only good for its user but good for the planet too.
