Pechakucha at designjunction

The PechaKucha night phenomenon began in Tokyo in 2003 as an event for young designers to meet, network and share their ideas. Drawing its name from the Japanese term for the sound of "chit chat", this simple and effective format requires the speaker to show 20 images, each for 20 seconds.

This rapid paced presentation format will now come to designjunction for the London Design Festival and will feature a star line-up of international speakers.

Designjunction PechaKucha Night will be held on Friday 23 September 7pm – 10pm - invite only.

The Wright Brothers, acclaimed for their seafood and oysters, will be recreating the atmosphere and experience of their London restaurants at designjunction, serving the freshest fish from a spectacular pop-up bar by Modus.

The bar is produced from Valcromat and the seating will include the eponymous Noughts & Crosses stools by Michael Sodeau which features a steel powder coated O or X serving as a foot rest. Made from oak the stools come in two heights with either a three or four-legged version.

PechaKucha returns to London with a full program of events

In partnership with Klein Dytham architects, we are delighted to announce that Modus have taken over the guardianship for PechaKucha nights in London, bringing this exciting concept directly to your door step.

The PechaKucha phenomenon began in Tokyo in 2003 as an event for young designers to meet, network and share their ideas. Drawing its name from the Japanese term for the sound of "chit chat", this simple and effective format requires the speaker to show 20 images, each for 20 seconds.

This rapid paced presentation format will take place during the London Design Festival at designjunction, featuring a powerful line-up of speakers

www.pechakucha.org
www.thedesignjunction.co.uk

Swedish Design Goes London for the London Design Festival, 15 – 24 September

The Ambassador of Sweden will open up her Residence at Portland Place for a design exhibition featuring some of the world’s most renowned Swedish designers.

Among those names will be the multi-disciplinary talents of Scandinavian design partnership Clåesson Koivisto Rune (CKR) who recently designed the admired Gecko table for our collection.

Gecko is a collection of bistro, meeting, coffee and occasional tables. Available in a range of powder coated finishes or chrome, the compact laminate tops are available as square, rectangles or circular shapes, while the laser cut steel foot spreads out to look like the footpad of a gecko, hence the name.

From 22 – 7 November, Gecko will also be shown at London’s most exclusive design store Skandium, who intend to host a stunning retrospective of the partnerships work. Visit Skandium (South Kensington), 245-249 Brompton Road, London, SW3 2EP

www.skandium.com
